A few years ago, the West Creston Community Hall Society decided to give some money back to the youth of the Community and started a Bursary Fund. Each year the fund allots $250 towards one or more bursaries to deserving students of West Creston. The bursary amount has been augmented since 2010 by a further $1500 grant provided by the Area C RDCK Representative.

To qualify for a bursary a student must follow the Application Guidelines outlined below. GOOD LUCK!

Who can Apply:   To apply, student must;
  • Attend courses as a full-time student at an accredited post-secondary educational or technical institution within 16 months of High School graduation;
  • Be a resident of West Creston and a member of the WC Hall Society in good standing;
  • Demonstrate previous community involvement by outlining their past community activities;
  • Enclose a transcript or other record of their academic work; and
  • Submit an essay of approximately 100 words on "Why community involvement is important".
Application Deadline:   Bursary applications may be submitted at any time prior to the deadline of May 1st. A Bursary Application Form will be available from the Prince Charles Secondary School or applications may be submitted without the form but with a covering letter. Mail completed application for the next award to West Creston Hall Society, 1350 West Creston Rd, Creston, BC, V0B1G7 or present to the High School Office by May 1, 2011.

The Selection Process:   All applications are reviewed by a Selection Committee and checked to ensure they meet the minimum requirements. The candidate(s) with the best overall application, as determined by the Selection Committee, will be awarded a bursary. The Committee's decision is final.

Presentation:   The award(s) will be announced to the successful candidate(s) at a Community Celebration Dinner in June. The bursaries will be paid following receipt by the Committee of proof that the candidate has successfully enrolled and paid their first year’s fees.
